TRANS DAY OF REMEMBRANCE –
A Message from Anna Pye, President of Trans Pride Australia
Hello everyone,
Today, as we observe the Transgender Day of Remembrance, Trans Pride Australia stands with our community both locally and globally. We remember all the trans and gender-diverse individuals lost worldwide, and we also turn our thoughts closer to home. In Australia, the struggle for justice and recognition in the face of anti-trans violence is not acceptable. We remember Mhelody Bruno and Kimberley McCrae, whose tragic deaths and the subsequent legal outcomes sparked outrage and calls for justice within our community.
Today, 20th November, Trans Day of Remembrance we commit to amplifying the voices of those who have been silenced and to challenging the systems that continue to fail our community. We stand in solidarity, advocating for a world where being transgender or gender-diverse is celebrated, not criminalised or stigmatised. Let’s honour the memory of those we’ve lost by working towards a more inclusive, just, and safe society for all.
